What is the Health and Care Professions Council?
HCPC regulates health and care professionals in the UK and was set up to protect the public. They register professionals who meet their standards for their training, professional skills and behaviour. HCPC can take action against health professionals who fall below these standards. HCPC can also prosecute those who pretend to be registered.
This means that professionals registered with HCPC are genuine and meet national standards. This offers you protection if professionals fail to meet these standards. You can also check with HCPC that a professional is registered.
The Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) provides information and a contact point for members of the public searching for a private Speech and Language Therapists. ASLTIP holds a register of its members and provides a searchable database of speech therapists who are available to members of the public.
All ASLTIP members are registered members of both the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health Professions Council and are committed to good business standards.
